In keeping with the film's theme, the main and end titles for The Big Year are hand-written in a style that a "birder" (bird-watcher) might keep his or her journal. This typographic style was used throughout the film in the form of locator cards and date indicators, as well as all of the bird descriptions featured throughout the film.
